Tent Accessories

There is literally no end to the number and variety of tent accessories available to make your tent more comfortable, convenient and enjoyable when you are off camping. Some tent accessories could really be deemed necessities, while others would fall into the nice to have category and finally a few more that could be deemed luxury items.

Here are just a sample of some of the items available, in no particular order:

A Footprint or custom-fitted groundcloth that goes under your tent floor is an easy way to extend the life of your tent and costs a lot less to replace or repair than your tent. Make sure they are sized to fit your tent shape exactly, so that they won’t catch water like a generic groundcloth that sticks out beyond the floor edges.

Seam Sealer – any seams in your tent will have tiny holes that can let water inside, so these days most tents come with factory-sealed seams and require no additional sealing. However some tents, made with Silnylon® or eVent® fabrics may require seam sealing – to be sure, refer to the tent instructions. Either way a tube of seam sealer will not go astray.

Trail Repair Kit – everything to repair a tent, including tent pole repair tubes, self-adhesive nylon fabric patch material, zipper pulls, Seam Sealer and cold-resistant shock cord.

Tent Lights – there are a wide variety of tent lamps available, most are battery operated and some come with magnets to enable you to attach the fan to the tent without damaging the tent fabric, some with white and amber LEDs – the white LEDs give you a nice reading or game-playing light, while the amber LED makes for a terrific night light.

Tent Fans – just the thing for those stuffy tents, again, some have magnets to secure the fan without damaging the tent material, with soft pliable blades, battery operated with adjustable two-speed airflow control.

Ceiling Fan with Light – if you don’t want to carry around a fan and a light, then maybe a ceiling fan with light would be the go, combining the best of both sets of features mentioned above.

Gear Loft or Portable Attic – most tents today come with a few attached pockets to let you store small items off of the tent floor. An extra gear loft or attic is a mesh shelf that can store a  lot more camping gear out of the way.

Night Glow Attic – an attic that doubles as a lighting source with LEDs to light the tent’s interior, helping inhabitants organize gear or find the tent during the night.

Tent Stakes - spare tent stakes for for the tentfly or even for the tent if the weather turns particularly windy.

The Snow and Sand Stake™ allows the tent to be pitched in the snow of sand where traditional stakes don’t work. Fill these handy, lightweight but durable sacks with snow, sand or rocks and know that your tent will stay put.

The Organizer – a hanging, multi-section organizer that stows small items, headlamps, batteries, paperbacks and other items found inside a tent. No more lost essentials or fumbling for gear when you need it.

The Camping Closet Organizer is a water resistant, portable, collapsible, lightweight shelving unit that fits snugly into the side of a tent or in the back of your SUV. The Camping Closet has 6 storage compartments with different pockets on each side for different applications. Various sizes accommodate tissue boxes, a CD or Ipod. The Camping Closet also has holder clips for keys, a pocket for wallets or change pocket. The back of the Camping Closet has a large pocket for magazines or maps – It also comes with it’s own carry bag.

Portable Camp Toilet – from steel framed foldable models with durable molded plastic seats that use plastic bags to fully contoured designs with removable inner buckets for quick and easy waste disposal, your toiletry needs are taken care of.

There really is no end to the the number of tent accessories that you can use on your tent, it is really only limited by the weight involved and your budget.
